LAURIUM -- A Laurium family now has a new home thanks to Habitat for Humanity.

On Saturday morning the Copper Country's chapter of Habitat for Humanity held a house dedication ceremony for Mark and Theresa Sakkinen. Family, friends and community members gathered as a clergy man blessed the couple's new home. The house is energy efficient and handicapped accessible.

After hundreds of volunteers and countless hours of work, the couple was overwhelmed with emotion.

"I'm happy, I'm excited, I'm just overwhelmed," said Theresa Sakkinen.

"There's the word, overhwhelmed."

The Copper Country's Habitat for Humanity, which builds a house each year for charity, is close to selecting a family for next year.
