SANDS TWP -- Horseback riders enjoyed a beautiful trail ride in Sands Township on Saturday and helped out a good cause along the way.
The Marquette County Horse Club hosted a fundraiser to help Piper's Rescue Ranch at the Marquette County Fairgrounds. More than 100 riders showed up for a poker run and other activities throughout the day.
Organizers say they've made fundraising part of the club's motto.
"Our horse club, we take a lot of pride in the things that we do," said Andi Goriesky, the club's president.
"We have done very many charitable events, it's what our club is all about, we love doing it, we have great members, we have helped UPAWS in the past and we have supported Sally's ride, and this is just another form of that."
The event ended with a dinner and raffle prizes.
