ISHPEMING -- Aspen Ridge School in Ishpeming has a new addition to their green house after volunteers came out early Thursday morning to install a photovoltaic system on the potting shed.

This was the final stage of the greenhouse project which has been in the works since 2011. After building a new roof on the shed they installed the solar panels and the students maintaining the greenhouse were there to see the action.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about new alternative energy and how the world is changing and how we can produce power without creating pollution," said volunteer Dan Perkins.

The panels will store solar energy which will be used to power the fans that regulate the temperature in the greenhouse.
