SAWYER -- Over a dozen protestors gathered in Sawyer Tuesday, criticizing Republican Representative Dan Benishek's lack of presence in the area.

The protest was made up of about 20 members of the group Good Jobs Now. The group, based out of Marquette and Traverse City, has protested against Benishek several times over the summer, and most recently members have demanded he hold a town hall meeting in Sawyer.

"I want him to step up and be a politician and govern for the people and come out here and see what we are living in and the corrections that can be made," said James Leeman, a resident of Sawyer. "With a little bit of tax money, he could come out here and make a big difference."

Benishek's campaign responded by saying, "Dr. Dan has made it a top priority to have an open dialogue with northern Michigan families, and that is why he has visited every county, including Marquette County, and has held seven town halls for local residents."
