MARQUETTE -- Rio Tinto updated the public on the Eagle Mine Project at an informational meeting Monday night in Marquette.
It was the fourth of five community forums that Rio Tinto is holding throughout the U.P. to keep the public updated on the project. Rio Tinto officials say the underground tunnel is 90 percent complete, as well as the surface construction. They also allowed for feedback with the "community scoreboard," which is a chance for residents to rate them in key areas.
"The community scorecard, so far, we've been getting really good remarks. We'll be compiling all the information that we get from those throughout the forums, and in November, we'll actually present to the community the overall performance that people rated us," said Rio Tinto Communications Advisor, Dan Blondeau.
The next community meeting is Wednesday in L'Anse.
