NEGAUNEE -- Robert Lenz, a motivational speaker, spoke to a full auditorium at the Negaunee High School on Wednesday about the negative impacts of bullying.

He also touched on other topics that affect young people, such as substance use and self-harm, while using humor and personal stories to get the message across.

The event was put on by the Negaunee Ministerial Association.

"We have a little saying that if they laugh they'll listen," said Lenz. "If they laugh, they'll listen. If they listen, they'll learn, and if they learn maybe they'll choose to love. And that's what we do. I'm not a comedian, but maybe a humorist, maybe a storyteller, and I tell about real life."

Lenz is offering an evening session at 7 p.m. at the Negaunee High School.
