MARQUETTE -- A boat washed up on the shores of Lake Superior near Marquette on Tuesday after a very windy morning.

The strong winds and waves enabled a sailboat to get loose from Marquette's Lower Harbor. The boat traveled east and ran aground on the shore near Marquette Branch Prison on US-41.

The boat was discovered around 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning and its owner was notified.
