It's a last blast of summer before the approaching Autumnal Equinox on September 22, so enjoy it while you can. Highs on Sunday will be in the mid and upper 70s thanks to lots of sunshine and a persistent southwest wind ahead of an incoming cold front. The high record temperature of 78 set in 1994 may even be broken.
Sunday night will see a big change as the cold front appraches from the west later in the evening. The skies will become increasingly cloudy overnight from west to east. Expect plenty of rainfall with the front as it moves eastward into Monday. Lows on Sunday will be in the 50s.
Rain is the word for Monday, and plenty of it. Rainfall is likely to be heaviest in the afternoon. A thundershower is possible, but this is mostly looking to be a rain event. High temperatures are difficult to forecast depending on the location and timing of the front. Ahead of the front, highs should still be above average in the low 70s, but behind it conditions will be cooler, likely in the 50s or low 60s.
On Monday night, lows will fall to around 40. Rainfall is likely to continue eastward.
On Tuesday, as winds pick up out of the north behind the exiting low pressure system, they will likely create some lake effect rain near Lake Superior that should last much of the day. Tuesday's highs will only be in the 50s with lows down into the 30s.
