MARQUETTE -- If you're looking to get out with the family, enjoy some healthy food and help a cause, you might not want to miss out on the "Spokes of Hope" bike ride benefit for Beacon House this Saturday.
It's the first time the Beacon House will hold a bike ride to raise awareness and money for the charity. The Beacon House is a place for people to stay while their loved ones are treated at Marquette General Hospital.
It takes $350,000 to run the house yearly, and they hope to raise $1500.
"The twist is that we'll have healthy, delicious gourmet snacks and treats and a lunch at the conclusion of our bike ride," said Mary Dowling of the Beacon House.
"You'll be able to go and eat all of these items; if you ate everything that we served in the amounts that we serve them in, you'll still consume less than a thousand calories," said Chef Tom Wahlstrom of Elizabeth's Chophouse in Marquette.
You can take one of three bike routes, and for each one, there will be food available. The bike ride begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Beacon House and finishes at Mattson Lower Harbor Park.
