GWINN -- You can get full service if you fill up at the Mobil station in Gwinn this Sunday and help out the Dead River Derby. The girls are raising money for the upcoming season, and they will be pumping gas from 12-6 p.m. and will be looking for donations.

The derby pits the girls against one another in full contact battle on roller skates. The money will help them with a variety of needs for their season.

"It's really good to help us grow the sport. We're now the third league in the U.P. and we can use all the help we can get, not only to help raise funds, but to help to raise awareness that we're here," said Jessica Shull, Treasurer for the Dead River Derby. "And then if people want to give a donation, that will go to help us with our venue rental, facility rental, insurance, things of that sort."

The season runs from September to May. Individual bouts have yet to be determined. For more information on the Dead River Derby, check out the link to their Facebook page here.
