BREITUNG TOWNSHIP -- Breitung Township treasurer Anne Cahee's requested leave of absence was passed in a five against two vote on Monday evening.

She requested the voluntary leave of absence due to declining health.

"I tried to put in as many hours as I can," explains Cahee. "I just cant do it anymore. I just got to a point where my body's just deteriorating."

Cahee's appointed deputy, Johanna Provost, will step in and perform the duties as treasurer until the November election.

Township Supervisor Denny Olsen was one of the two board members that voted against the motion saying he did not feel it was in the best interest of the township to accept her leave of absence.

The motion will be effective immediately.
