MARQUETTE -- There was fun and food for the whole family Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Marquette.

The church threw a block party to kick off the fall season and as an inauguration of their newly renovated parking lot.  Nearly 200 kids and their families celebrated with games and bounce houses.

The church provided music for the crowd.  The Marquette City Fire Department brought in one of their fire trucks to educate kids on fire safety, and raffle prizes and free food were supplied by donations from local businesses.

"We've had lots of folks from the community come out and have a chance to enjoy themselves, and we're really pleased with how successful today has been so far," said First Untied Methodist Church Pastor Steve McCoy.

The First United Methodist Church plans to make the event an annual tradition at the beginning of fall.
