MARQUETTE TWP -- Nearly 200 children of all ages filled up the Superior Entertainment Center in Marquette Township on Saturday.

It was the first Cool Stuff for Kids event. There was free bowling, face painting and clowns making animal balloons for the kids. But there were also several organizations on hand like Big Brothers Big Sisters, local church youth groups, Girl Scouts, Superior Dance Academy, and Marquette Figure Skating Club to make families aware of outside of school activities in the area.

"Kids who are involved in groups and organizations and different activities perform better on tests. According to some studies, they do better in school," said Amy Manning, general manager of Superior Entertainment Center. "So we want to give them an opportunity to see what's out there that they can get involved with."

The event wrapped up with a magic show later in the afternoon.
