HOUGHTON -- The cause of the Heritage Manor apartment fire in Houghton is undetermined.

According to the incident report, the fire occurred in apartment 508 at or near the area of the electrical outlet near the refrigerator and just above counter top height, but the cause is unknown. The fire occurred two weeks ago and firefighters rescued 41 residents from the building. Throughout this week an environmental assessment of Heritage Manor was done and renovations will begin next week.
