MARQUETTE -- A Menominee man was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

Jason Eric Warner, 33, pleaded guilty to Count 1 of a federal indictment charging him with assault resulting in serious bodily injury. The charge stemmed from an incident at a residence in Wilson, Michigan on the Hannahville Indian Community reservation on January 25, 2012.  In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge R. Allan Edgar ordered Warner to serve three years of supervised release following his release from prison, to pay a $100 special assessment, and to pay $3,866.60 restitution.

During this incident, Warner engaged in a fight with the victim, a member of the Hannahville Indian Community, striking him several times in the head, knocking him to the ground, and continuing to beat him. The victim was taken to OSF St. Francis Hospital where he was diagnosed with a broken nose and a shoulder separation requiring surgery to repair.

The Hannahville Indian Community Tribal Police and the FBI investigated the case.  Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul D. Lochner prosecuted the case.
