ESCANABA TWP -- Residents of Escanaba Township had much to celebrate this weekend.
It was the township's 150th anniversary celebration on Saturday. Many gathered for a day of food and fun outdoors. The township provided free food for everyone, as well as games for the kids. The theme was farming and logging so the township also invited a professional chainsaw carver. The adjacent volunteer fire department also held an open house.
Inside they had raffles for prizes and many displays of farms and memorable moments in township history.
"It's a little warm out, but it's working out well. Everything has come together and after 28 years of being township supervisor this is a really good feeling to have all the people here," said Kevin Dubord, the township supervisor.
The evening ended with live music and dance.
