WAUSAUKEE, WI -- A 51-year-old woman is dead following a shooting in Marinette County according to officers from the Marinette County Sheriff's Department.

It happened shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon at a Citgo convenience store on 306 Main St. in the Village of Wausaukee.

When police arrived, they found the woman's body behind the counter and a 55-year-old man with a gunshot wound outside the store. Initial investigation indicates that the man shot the female victim then turned the gun on himself. There were no other injuries. The suspect was transported to Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette, Wisconsin.

The investigation continues, and we will update the story as information becomes available.

The Sheriff's office is being assisted at the scene by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Wardens, Marinette County District Attorney Allen Brey, Wausaukee Rescue Squad, Bay Area Medical Center Paramedics, and Marinette County Coroner George Smith.
