MARQUETTE -- Members of the Marquette Rotary Club expected thousands to show up to this year's Seafood Fest in Marquette.

The 29th annual event kicked off with a gala Thursday night followed by a concert event on Friday. On Saturday, it was your traditional fest with all the seafood favorites, cooked fresh to order. Organizers say preparations could not have been done without community support.

"It's a huge, huge undertaking," said Bruce Closser, of the Marquette Rotary Club. "There are lots and lots of community members who volunteer from a variety of organizations. We have lots of volunteers, it's all done by volunteers."

Over the years the club has been able to give back a half million dollars to local charity organizations.
