ISHPEMING -- Power has been restored to more than 1,100 customers in the Ishpeming area.

Power was lost around 3 a.m. Thursday, impacting, at one point, 1,180 customers.

The Upper Peninsula Power Company reports that around 3 a.m. Thursday morning, a squirrel had made contact with equipment in the Barnum substation.

The Ishpeming service has been restored, however, their
website still showed some power problems affecting the Houghton County area Thursday morning.
