MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- As part of the "Click It or Ticket" program, officers from three different police agencies were out making sure motorists were buckled up Tuesday.

Michigan State Police, the Marquette County Sheriffs and Chocolay Township Police set up a safety belt enforcement zone Tuesday afternoon on US-41 in Marquette Township.

Federal grant funding pays for the program.  Officers issued more than a dozen citations to motorists who were not wearing their safety belts.

There will be another safety belt enforcement check on August 30.
