HOUGHTON -- There's still no word yet on the exact cause of last Friday's fire at Heritage Manor in Houghton, but city housing officials are looking for support for victims of the blaze.

The fire chief says he's still waiting on the report from the Fire Marshal, but the Executive Director of the Houghton Housing Commission is asking the public for their continued support and donations.

"We need a lot of stuff to help them get set up," said Executive Director Sherry Hughes. "We need food, is one thing, Kleenex, toilet paper, and dish soap. We're looking for new bedding for twin-sized beds and hand towels."

All residents have been placed in alternative housing until Heritage Manor is repaired. The housing commission is also hoping residents will be able to remove their belongings from the apartment by the end of the week.

If you are interested in donating requested items, please visit Lakeview Manor at 1401 Quincy St. in Hancock.
