MARQUETTE -- The Marquette Golf Club was taken over by the color pink Monday. The second annual Rally For the Cure got underway under cloudy skies. The event raises money for the Susan G. Koman Race For the Cure as well as local cancer survivors. About 80 players signed up to swing away for the cause.

"We're raising awareness not only of the disease, a lot of people are aware of that, but about how to get tested, when to get tested. Everyone that's playing today will get information on that," said Shelby Kivela, organizer. "We're also just keeping the information local, keeping money local, supporting local patients, and I think that we're doing that here today and we continue to carry that mission on."

The golfers got started at 5 p.m. Following the golf, the group held a dinner, complete with awards for some of the players.
