ESCANABA -- The United Way of Delta County is calling all chefs for its 18th annual Soup'r Chili challenge that'll take place on September 11 at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba.

You can enter in either the restaurant or non-restaurant division.  Be prepared to make eight to ten gallons of soup or chili.

This year's theme is "Tailgate Party".

"For a lot of people in the community, it's a great evening where they can come out, bring their families, try a lot of delicious soups and chilis. We usually have ice cream bars.  Our United Way agencies are there with information about their services," said Executive Director of the Delta County United Way, Julie Mallard.

The fun evening is the campaign kickoff for the fall United Way campaign goal, which organizers say will be around $250,000.
