IRON MT. -- The 6th annual Italian Fest took place Saturday in Iron Mountain.

Six local vendors provided Italian foods and desserts for the crowds, as well as some souvenirs. There was also plenty of Italian wine for everyone. Listeners enjoyed live music, and kids had plenty of games. The fest is a fundraiser for the Downtown Development Authority. Iron Mountain has a strong Italian heritage, and some of the community's oldest Italian families even organize family reunions around the fest.

Organizers expected around 2,500 visitors by the end of the night.

"We can't beat the fact that this really helps compliment our local Italian heritage while supporting efforts to make our community a better place for people," said Jonathan Ringel, Main Street manager.

The Italian Fest ended at midnight Central time.
