MANISTIQUE -- An overnight structure fire in Manistique left one dog dead, and a car garage a total loss, police said.

Manistique Public Safety officers along with volunteer fire officers were dispatched to 615 Park Ave. around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, officers found the attached garage to the home engulfed in flames and a power line serving the home was down, arcing high voltage electricity across a vehicle parked in the driveway. Officers were able to surround the home with hose lines and put out the fire within 15 minutes, police said.

The structure suffered heavy smoke and fire damage. The home was not occupied at the time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Manistique Public Safety Department. Officers cleared the scene around 4:30 a.m.
