ISHPEMING -- Cliffs Natural Resources announced Wednesday the company has adjusted its production plans for the Empire Mine in Palmer and would resume operations in early September.

Empire Mine operations have been idled in a planned, temporary production curtailment since early June.

Cliffs officials say they are pleased to be able to adjust their full year production, which will allow them to resume operations and bring back employees who are on layoff.

Approximately 245 employees have been on temporary layoff since the production curtailment went into effect in June.

It's anticipated that all of those employees will be recalled.
