MARQUETTE -- A mini series has made is way to the U.P. and it was looking to locals for the lead roles.  Auditions for the pilot episode of the series "The Wake" took place Monday at the Peter White Public Library.

The Chicago-based film group is looking for lead roles and extras.  The Wake is a post apocalyptic series that's based in the future.  The group is shooting the series along the shores of Lake Superior between Munising and Marquette.

"We went scouting for a few weeks, and we traveled all over the place.  We really love the coast here.  It was gorgeous, so we thought that with the help from the community, we could really make something special," said co-creator, Jeff Bloom.

The film group is casting this week, then production starts this weekend.

Once the pilot episode is completed, the show's creators plan to market it to online distributors, and if it's picked up, they hope to return to the U.P. to shoot the series.
