MACKINAC COUNTY -- Rescuers brought a stranded boater back to shore after mechanical issues left her adrift on Lake Michigan on Sunday evening.

The Mackinac County Sheriff's Department was alerted just before 6 p.m. of the developing situation near Naubinway. Mary Dupree of Holt, Michigan was operating her personal watercraft when the machine had mechanical problems.

Strong winds pushed her away from shore, and bystanders were unable to help her get back.

Deputies responded with the sheriff's department boat assisted by the harbormaster and a local fishing vessel. Both the woman and her boat were brought back to shore safely.
