NEGAUNEE -- Several swimmers took on Teal Lake Sunday morning on a windy, three-mile swim, and they did it to honor the memory of a good friend.

Organizer Lisa Wetton wanted to keep the memory of her dear friend, Linda Halverson, alive. Linda passed away in a boating accident two years ago. The group is also raising money to benefit the Beacon House in Marquette. Years ago, Linda stayed at a similar place when she needed help with her premature babies.

"Linda was always a caring, loving person and I just feel like I need to give something in her memory. I just want her memory to carry on," said Lisa Wetton. "I feel the Beacon House was something that was important to her."

If you'd like to donate, you can send in your donations to Lisa Wetton, 709 Croix St., Negaunee, MI  49866.
