ELY TOWNSHIP -- The American Legion Post 114 in Ely Township hosted a sock hop fundraiser on Sunday.

It was all to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. The Relay for Life team 'Cuz We Cure' put the dance together. The event had a 1950s theme. Aside from music and dancing, there was also a 50-50 raffle and trivia.

"Today is just wonderful," said Wanda Westman, an organizer. "What a nice showing today. Everyone has come out to support our team, and we're hoping to raise a lot of money."

This was the first time the team had put together a sock hop fundraiser, but they hope to make it an annual event. They raised $230 for the American Cancer Society.
