MARQUETTE -- Construction on the McClellan Avenue extension project is nearing completion. Work on the extension has been going on since the beginning of April and is ahead of schedule. Originally the goal was for the road to be completed in October. It now looks as though it could be done much sooner.
"We would certainly hope that the public would be patient with us. This is a long time coming; it's been 20 years in the planning process. The contractor is ahead of schedule and hopefully by the end of August, beginning of September, we can have it open," said Marquette City Planner Dennis Stachowicz.
The road still needs to be inspected and have the markings painted. A traffic light will also be installed at the intersection of Wright Street and the new McClellan extension.
