FORSYTH TOWNSHIP -- With all the recent cougar sightings lately, people may be on the lookout for signs of the animal.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources took a call Wednesday that turned out to be a false alarm.

A woman was walking along a dirt road off of M-553 when she came across what she thought were cougar tracks. She then sent a picture to the DNR who went out to the site Wednesday to investigate.

After looking at dozens of the prints and the track patterns, the DNR determined the mysterious tracks were those of a dog.

The DNR says if you ever think you see signs of a cougar, let them know so they can look into it.
