NEGAUNEE -- A benefit swim this Sunday is in remembrance of a woman who passed away in an accident two years ago.

The event begins on Sunday morning at Teal Lake in Negaunee and anyone is invited. All the donations are going to the Beacon House in Marquette in honor of Linda Halverson.

Eight years ago, Linda's children were born prematurely. She stayed at the Beacon House, where she was able to be near to her babies. The memorial swim is being organized by Linda's best friend, Lisa.

"She was a very giving person, and she was just always so passionate about giving herself," said organizer Lisa Wetton. "And knowing that the community and this type of service is there is important. So I know that she would just be...she is up there saying thank you so much."

Anyone wanting to take part is invited to the Teal Lake shoreline in Negaunee at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. The three-mile swim ends at Al Quaal in Ishpeming.
