IRON MOUNTAIN -- The Iron Mountain School District is asking residents to vote for an $11 million bond proposal on August 7.
The bond proposal would increase personal property tax by $53 a year over the next 20 years for taxpayers.
Staff say that the Iron Mountain High School building is 100 years old and needs major renovations. Some of the major issues are leaking ceilings, small classrooms and outdated lighting, heating, security, and technology.
All buildings in the school district would benefit from the proposed millage.
"We need interactive smart boards, we need iPads, we need more computers, we need more computer labs, our heating system is still steam heat," said Iron Mountain Superintendent Tom Jayne.
