MUNISING -- Hundreds of people turned out for the second annual Flannel Jack Fest at Bayshore Park in Munising Saturday afternoon.

The Alger County Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event. People enjoyed everything from live music, games and good food. Organizers say the event pays tribute to the community's heritage, while vendors say the location right off the shore provides great publicity for the community.

"We wanted to do a bigger festival in the summer, and what better than logging because that's how the area was really founded. It was the timber industry and the logging industry, so it was just a perfect fit," said Kathy Reynolds, President of the Alger County Chamber of Commerce.

"The festival, it's a unique venue in Bayshore Park. You've got a lot of traffic off the Pictured Rocks cruises, just gaining awareness for the brands and telling people what we're about and what the community is about," said Tom Dolaskie, founder of Roam, Inc.

The money from Saturday's event goes toward other events put on by the chamber.
