MARQUETTE -- A Marquette beach reopened Saturday evening after being closed due to high bacteria levels.

North Beach between Fair Avenue and Hawley Street was closed after a reading showed more than 400 counts of E. coli was found in a water sample. The state's limit is 300 counts. It's the second beach closed in two weeks. South Beach in Marquette closed for a short time last week because of high E. coli levels.

City officials will continue to monitor the water quality. They say this year's data has shown higher readings of E. coli than previous years.
