A second water sample reading was taken late Friday, and city officials are awaiting the results which are due by noon Saturday. Pending the results of the results of the Friday test, a decision on the beach status will be made.
As of 11 a.m. Saturday the beach remained closed for safety reasons.
A third test was taken 10:45 a.m. Saturday to follow-up previous testing.
A high E. coli reading resulted in the closure of the South Beach in Marquette Friday night. The area was closed between five and eight o'clock.
Marquette Fire officials say the plan is to test the beach again Saturday morning at eleven. Officials will then decide whether the beach will remain open.
