DICKINSON CO. -- Attorney Julie LaCost announced her candidacy for Dickinson County Prosecutor this week.

The Republican stressed her pro-gun stance and wants to continue ensuring law abiding applicants receive concealed weapon permits. She says since the law passed 10 years ago, the crime rate has decreased dramatically.

"Since Michigan became a right-to-carry state, that overall crime rate has reduced by 500 percent," said LaCost.

LaCost is running against Republican Lisa Richards and Democrats Jay Finch and Daniel Anderson in the August 7 primary election.
