IRON MOUNTAIN -- CCI Systems is working on a 500 mile job running from Wisconsin throughout the Upper Peninsula.

The company is upgrading from cable to a fiber build for public institutions. The fiber optic cable facilitates higher bandwidth for faster data transmission, as well as better audio and video reception.

"Speed up communications for the hospitals, fire departments, police stations, and a lot of the public works throughout the Upper Peninsula region," said Project Manager Doug Mercier.

CCI Systems hired several outside contractors for the project that will be working throughout the Upper Peninsula over the next few months.

The company predicts the work will be finished in a year and hope to complete it by May of 2013.
