GRAND MARAIS -- Grand Marais' emergency services are receiving an upgrade.  The new Weston building on Coast Guard Point Road will be much bigger and have updated facilities.

It will comfortably fit all of the Burt Township fire trucks, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles. It'll have room for offices and equipment storage.  The new facility will also serve as a training ground for emergency workers.

The previous Weston Building that was torn down recently was too small and inefficient.

Construction on the one million dollar project starts Monday.  The new building has an expected completion date of October 24.  Until then, emergency services are operating out of the community center.
