MARQUETTE -- Kids of all ages brought their bikes to the Lakeview Arena in Marquette Wednesday for the annual 4th of July bike rodeo.
Nearly a hundred kids from the ages of zero to 14 displayed their patriotic bikes.
Several awards, including a brand new bike as the grand prize were also up for the taking.
Organizers of the 26-year-old event say the rodeo is a great opportunity to bring the community together.
"What's wonderful about this event is it brings a lot of kids from the community in to one event, it brings their parents in," said Debra Nance of the Marquette Area 4th of July committee. "They get to feel like not only are they part of the community, but they're supporting the 4th of July."
The Marquette Area 4th of July committee nearly canceled today's rodeo due to a lack of funds.
The concrete company Associated Redi-Mix and Block stepped in at the last minute to help save the tradition.
Marquette can no longer fund the bike rodeo due to the rising costs of the city's fireworks display.
