FLORENCE COUNTY -- The Florence County Health Department is working to cool off families in need after high temperatures and power outages joined together making for a very hot day.

State health officials are opening cooling shelters at the Florence Town Hall and Fence Town Hall to help cool families as the temperature reached the upper 90's on Tuesday.  The Florence County Library is also open as a cooling shelter from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. on July 3.

Health officials are warning people of heat exhaustion, which has symptoms including fainting, nausea, fatigue, or clammy skin.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact the Florence County Sheriff's Department at (715) 528-3346 or the Florence County Health Department at (715) 528-4837.
