Boy, do I have a lot to say today. I have a bunch of links below about the severe weather that has killed 13 people and left millions without power in intense heat at the bottom, as well as info on the aurora potential and a summary of June's weather.

As for your forecast, it will be another warm one in the U.P. Highs Sunday should reach the lower 80s. As we're underneath a small area of high pressure, conditions should be calm and relatively clear, but we could see a few showers pop up in the peak heat of the afternoon. There could even be a rumble of thunder, but any rain should be light and concentrated to the southern counties.

Sunday night, any rain should diminish. With mostly clear skies and calm winds, lows will drop into the 50s.

It will be warmer on Monday; 80s for highs all around the U.P. as a south wind picks up behind an exiting high and ahead of an incoming low. Skies should be mostly sunny in the day, but it's a different story for the evening and overnight.

A warm front will enter the area from the south later on Monday and will bring rain and likely some thunderstorms as well. Lows will be warm in the 60s. Rain should last overnight into Tuesday, but it won't be all about the warm front.

Tuesday afternoon, the associated cold front will pass bringing continued rain and thundershowers. Highs should still be hot in the mid 80s. Skies will clear up a bit behind the front, but it won't be a very clear night. Tuesday's lows will again be mild in the low 60s.

Your 4th of July forecast on Wednesday is looking just right. Skies will see some sunshine, but it won't be purely sunny. There is a slight chance for some precipitation, but it's looking to be on the dry side for now. Highs will be in the mid 70s to low 80s, warmest along the Wisconsin line. Winds are looking light, too.

For the 4th, make sure you're mindful of fireworks near wooded areas. No one wants to be the one who accidentally ignites a wildfire. See what the DNR has to say on the issue. For some 4th climate statistics, click here. Only one 4th in recorded history has had a high that exceeded 90 degrees.

As June has ended, here are some interesting things to know. We had nine days that had official highs of 80 or higher (no 90s this month), and three that didn't get higher than 50s. We saw 3.57" of rain this month when the normal is only 2.84". That's a nice change of pace. The only other month so far this year to have above average precipitation was January.

Eyes to the sky! We could see an aurora Sunday night. Check out why here.

The last several days have been interesting nationwide to say the least, at least when it comes to weather. On Saturday, Atlanta, GA broke their all time high temperature record. They got up to 106 degrees! They've never been that hot in their recorded history.

On Friday, a derecho ripped through the United States from Chicago to the east coast. Thirteen are dead and millions are without power and air conditioning while extreme heat continues. The damage reports are extensive. Look at the severe storm reports from the Storm Prediction Center. Several states are in a state of emergency. Check out this story from our NBC affiliate in Washington D.C. Off of the AP wire, there are many more numbers and details here.

This link has many more pictures and videos, but it also has a complete radar loop of the derecho that includes all of the thunderstorm warnings (yellow) and tornado warnings (red).

I've posted many of the amazing pictures from Chicago on my Facebook page. Here's something new from Friday night of "Tarpocalypse" in Illinois. Like me on Facebook and I'll keep you updated. Check out this week's cover photo of a shelf cloud I saw while storm chasing last summer.
