Motorcyclist dies after hitting deer

BERGLAND TOWNSHIP -- A Marinesco man has died from injuries sustained after the motorcycle he was driving hit a deer.
    
The Michigan State Police from the Wakefield Post report that 73-year-old Charles Matthew Evans of Marenisco was riding a motorcycle on M-28 in Bergland Township. While driving near Sandy Beach Road on M-28, a deer ran out into the path of his motorcycle.  Evans struck the deer and was thrown from the motorcycle.  He was not wearing a helmet and sustained head injuries.

 
 
Evans was transported by ambulance to Grand View Aspirus Hospital by Beacon Ambulance and later transferred by helicopter to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin were he was declared dead.

Wakefield troopers were assisted by the Ontonagon County Sheriff's Department, the Bergland Fire Department, and troopers from the Calumet Post.
