GARDEN -- Christmas came early to Garden Saturday at the baseball field in the Fayette Historic Townsite.

About 150 kids and their families turned out for the festivities, that included arts and crafts, a dunk tank and minnow races. The annual event, sponsored by the Department of Natural Resources, attracted kids from all over the area, including those out on vacation.

"A lot of the campers camp and they have a lot of children and usually around here, we have Fairport and Garden and Manistique," said Cassie Nelson, of the Department of Natural Resources.

Coming up in October, the DNR will host its annual fall fest at the historic townsite.
