ALGER COUNTY -- A high speed chase incident in Alger County that began just before 4 a.m. on June 15 is under investigation.

According to the Alger County Sheriff's Department, a resident in Wetmore contacted police when a person she did not know came into her home.  She said the man, who appeared to be drunk, was standing over her while she was sleeping.

When sheriff's deputies arrived, they noticed the male suspect getting into a truck and then heading towards them at a high rate of speed.  The truck came to a stop about a half mile later, and the man fled into the woods where deputies lost him.

However, a second Wetmore resident contacted authorities about a truck being stolen.  Using information from that incident, they developed further details about a possible suspect, and he was located and taken into custody.

His name is being withheld at this time, and the case remains under investigation.
