ISHPEMING -- A hit-and-run accident sent one to the hospital Friday night.

It happened around 11 p.m. in Ishpeming. A 24-year-old Ishpeming woman pulled into the path of a westbound vehicle on US-41 and Lakeshore Drive, striking the vehicle and then leaving the scene, police said. Ishpeming City Police later stopped the woman, and she was transported to Marquette General Hospital for possible head trauma. The other driver was not injured.

The accident is still under investigation, and criminal charges could be pending. Assisting at the scene were troopers from the Michigan State Police and the Marquette County Sheriff's Department.
