NEWBERRY -- Seventh graders at Newberry Middle School are trying to find solutions to a worldwide epidemic.  They're exposing the issue of child labor in the United States and other countries.

Several students made brochures and PowerPoint presentations that outline why the abuse happens and how to stop it.  They say it was most surprising to learn that it happens in our own country and to children even younger than they are.

For some, it was an eye opening experience.

"It's largest in agriculture, and a lot of children work in the field at the age of twelve.  You wouldn't think that a country that was made for democracy would have child labor like that," said seventh grader, Maysa Sitar.

The students presented their findings to their peers during class.
