Businesses affected by wildfire back to life
TAHQUAMENON FALLS -- Local businesses are trying to recover as a result of the Duck Lake Wildfire.
Nearby at the Tahquamenon Falls State Park, visitors are slowly coming back. Owners of the Tahquamenon State Brewery were forced to close for several days, including the Memorial Day weekend, due to the close proximity of the fire. They want people to know they're open and ready for customers.
"One of the things we're dealing with right now is misinformation," said business owner Lark Ludlow. "People think we're closed or have been burned out, and the sooner the positive gets out, the better we'll all be."
They estimate the fire has cost them $25,000 in business. Besides cooking for customers, they've gone out of their way to feed more than 180 firefighters.
