The U.P. received some much needed rain between Friday and Saturday--more than an inch in Van Meer, according to one of our Weather Watchers.
Rain is not a major factor in Sunday's weather. There may be a few lingering showers east in the morning, but they should be clearing away by the afternoon. Skies will be mostly sunny throughout the day. Highs will be much warmer than Saturday. Most areas will be in the upper 60s to low 70s, warmest in the western interior and cooler near Lake Superior with a northwest wind.
Sunday night will be mostly clear, but some clouds will move in late from the west with another incoming low pressure system. There is a slight chance of rain developing west after midnight with a weakening cool front. Lows will be in the low 50s west and mid to upper 40s east.
Monday will see more highs around 70, but other than that, the forecast is tricky. Skies will be mostly cloudy, but forecasting models disagree on the rain for Monday and Tuesday. Right now, there is a slight chance of some isolated showers, but any rainfall is looking to be very light.
Monday night's lows will be mainly in the upper 40s. Skies will again be mostly cloudy with that slight chance for some showers.
Tuesday will see very similar conditions, meaning that skies may not be the clearest to view the Transit of Venus. Wednesday is when things shift. High pressure will move in and clear things up for several days. Temperatures will steadily warm up toward next weekend.
Rip Current Awareness Week begins Sunday. Make sure you know how to stay safe on the beaches. If you're ever caught in a rip current, call for help, don't panic, swim parallel to the shore until you're free, then swim back. Never swim against the current!
